​Redemptive Childbirth Certification Program

​

The Redemptive Childbirthâ„  Certification Pathway is a structured,

competency-based process designed to ensure graduates meet defined professional

standards prior to credential issuance.

​

Each session includes defined learning objectives, supervised skill validation,

and formal assessment.  Certification is awarded following demonstrated mastery

of required competencies,  supervised skill validation, and formal assessment.

 

Participation alone does not constitute certification.

Each stage of the pathway includes defined learning objectives, applied training,

documented evaluation, and administrative review.

STEP 1 — Application & Enrollment Review

 

Purpose

To determine eligibility, readiness, and alignment with program standards.

Requirements

• Completion of official application
• Submission of required enrollment documentation
• Review of program policies and Code of Ethics
• Agreement to certification standards and professional conduct expectations

 

Eligibility

Applicants may include:

• Aspiring doulas (18 years or older)
• Healthcare professionals
• Community birth workers
• Individuals pursuing structured maternal health training

​

No prior doula certification is required; however, candidates must

demonstrate readiness for professional-level instruction.

STEP 2 — Completion of Core Instruction

​

Contact Hours: 45.25

Candidates complete structured, in-person instruction

across three intensive weekends.

​

Competency Domains Covered​

• Foundations of Doula Practice
Anatomy & Physiology of Pregnancy and Birth**
• Hormonal Physiology of Labor
• Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Care

• Comfort Measures & Labor Support**

• Ethical Scope of Practice
• Interprofessional Communication & Advocacy
• Informed Decision-Making Frameworks
• Postpartum, Lactation,** & Fourth Trimester Support

​

Instruction integrates lecture, case review, group discussion, and reflective

analysis, and evidence-based study.

Completion of coursework does not automatically confer certification.

It qualifies the candidate for skills validation and formal assessment.

STEP 3 — Supervised Skills Laboratory & Applied Training

​

Candidates demonstrate competency in structured

laboratory and scenario-based evaluation.

​

Skills Validated Include:

Physical comfort measures and positioning**
Labor support techniques**
• Pelvic dynamics and movement strategies
• Communication and advocacy simulations
• Informed consent support
• Postpartum observation and referral awareness
• Professional boundary application

Childbirth Education**

​

Skill demonstration is supervised and documented

by instructional faculty.

STEP 4 — Formal Assessment & Competency

​

Evaluation certification readiness is validated through formal evaluation, not attendance alone.

​

Assessment methods include:

• Written knowledge evaluation

• Case scenario analysis

• Professional conduct review

• Reflective practice documentation

• Resource list preparation

• Practical birth support skills demonstrated in live births (3)

 

Candidates must successfully complete all required assessments prior to advancing to the final certification review.

Self Study

STEP 5 — Certification Review & Credential Issuance

​

Upon completion of instructional and assessment requirements,

the candidate’s record undergoes administrative review.

​

Certification is awarded upon confirmation of:

• Verified attendance
• Documented skills competency
• Successful written and practical evaluation
• Ethical and professional conduct compliance
• Completion of all program requirements

Upon approval, graduates receive:

• Redemptive Childbirthâ„  Doula Certification Certificate of Completion

• UAMS /GO! Educational Joint Continuing Education hours certificate

• Redemptive Childbirth Doula Certification logo badge
• Certificate of Completion
• Documentation of earned contact hours
• Eligibility for post-certification mentoring support

Certification records are maintained by program administration.
