Cheryl J Washington, EdD, BSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, CD-L, CD-PPI, SpBAP

Dr. Washington is an experienced labor-and-delivery registered nurse, nurse educator, and a Certified Elite Labor and Postpartum & Infant Care doula. After 48 years of labor and delivery nursing, Cheryl quietly landed back at the bedside as a faith-based Christ Kingdom doula.  Now she serves families as their doula and is the visionary of the Redemptive Childbirth movement and Doula certification program. She is the founder of the 501(c)3 (3)- pending nonprofit, The Nehemiah Birthing Project, whose mission is to train doulas with a biblical worldview and provide Doula services to women from a biblical perspective, especially in areas where doula services are scarce.

Charice Riggins is a dedicated and compassionate

Registered Nurse with over 13 years of experience in obstetric and pediatric emergency care. Charice has developed a strong commitment to providing high-quality, family-centered care to mothers, newborns, and children during some of life’s most

critical and emotional moments. Throughout her career, Charice has worked in fast-paced labor and delivery units as well as pediatric emergency departments, skillfully managing complex cases ranging from high-risk deliveries to pediatric trauma and acute illnesses. She is known for remaining calm under pressure, providing evidence-based interventions, and offering emotional support to families in crisis.

Malika Closson MD

Dr. Closson is CEO/Owner, Closson Psychiatric Consultants, LLC. She is the wife of Pediatrician Dr. Forrest Closson, and together they serve families and are pillars of the Nehemiah Birthing Project and the Redemptive Childbirth certification program. Mika has taught and spoken on postpartum depression with clinical knowledge and firsthand experience. 

She is also the Medical Director at Carelon Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of Elevance Health. Her expertise has been further recognized through her recent appointment to the Maryland Medicaid Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health.

Dr. Closson has extensive experience in treating children, adolescents, and adults within community mental health settings throughout the Baltimore-D.C. metropolitan

region. Her clinical work reflects a deep commitment to serving families and individuals across multiple generations.

Glesi Lambert, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM

Anglesia Lambert is a Registered Nurse with over 15 years in the field, including nine years dedicated to Women’s and Infant Services. She is deeply passionate about delivering patient-centered care and fostering an environment that encourages collaboration among nurses, patients, and providers. Anglesia has been instrumental in leading care initiatives aimed at reducing maternal morbidity and mortality, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for women of color. She has championed evidence-based practices, multidisciplinary teamwork, and equitable care delivery to address disparities and ensure that every patient receives safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive care.

Anglesia holds a Master of Science in Nursing Education and remains committed to advancing both evidence-based initiatives and her clinical and educational excellence. She has maintained certification in both Obstetrics (RNC-OB) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (cEFM).  She is also an active member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).

Cynthia is a full-time certified doula whose calling is to walk alongside mothers and families during one of the most sacred and transformative times of their lives. She is devoted to providing evidence-based information, compassionate emotional support, and gentle physical care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum journey. Her goal is to ensure that every mother feels informed, empowered, and deeply supported in her decisions and experiences. Her passion for maternal health is deeply personal. Having grown up without a mother, she is drawn to this work by a lifelong desire to nurture, protect, and empower other women on their paths to motherhood. Becoming a mother myself and later, carrying both her daughter and grandchildren, has given her a profound appreciation for the strength and sacredness of the maternal experience.

Eboni McCoy, MSN, AGPCNP

Eboni is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in patient care, education, and holistic health. She holds degrees from Liberty University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is certified in Functional Medicine.

 

After overcoming her own health challenges by addressing the root causes, Eboni became passionate about helping other women do the same. At State of the Body, she blends clinical expertise with compassion, offering personalized care that supports the whole person.

 

Whether she’s treating clients, speaking, or sharing insights on her YouTube channel Candid Convos w/ Nurse E, Eboni is committed to helping women reclaim their energy, wellness, and purpose.
